Have you ever met someone who radiated light and positivity and wondered how they were so happy? I thought this all the time when I was growing up. I had loads of people around me that could make the best out of any situation while I had many demons just under the surface throughout my life. I always admired people who were positive all the time. How did they constantly have the power of a positive attitude when I struggled to even get out of bed most mornings?
I thought that we were just different and there was no changing who I was. The cards I was dealt in life made me a bit rougher around the edges, while others clearly had it easier. I am sure I am resonating with some of you out there! But I am going to let you in on something I have learned: Their life wasn’t any easier than mine. The difference was they made the choice to stay positive. So, one day I got out of bed and decided to change. It hasn’t come easy to me and it is something that didn’t come over night. It was something I had to take time and learn and something I am still learning every single day. Being positive is something you develop, build, and improve upon until you are able to keep that positivity with you constantly.
We find in life what we are looking for. If we are looking for negative things around us in our lives, we are going to find them pretty easily! But if you look for positivity in everything, you will find that as well. The average life span is between 78-84 years on this earth which isn’t a lot of time. Why do we spend so much time in our lives dwelling on negativity when there are so many good and positive things in the world that we can focus our energy on?
I believe one of the biggest things that hinders us from understanding our Infinite Power is our own thoughts toward ourselves. But guys, our thoughts are liars! It’s no secret that we are our biggest critics and the way we talk to ourselves is often pretty horrible. If you heard someone talking about another person in a really negative light, what would you think of that person? Would you think “Okay, this is a good person that I want to spend my precious time with” or would you think “This is someone I need to stay away from”? Obviously, we would run for the hills! So why do we allow ourselves to be that negative and toxic toward ourselves? If we heard anyone talking about someone else the way we talk about ourselves we would want to stay as far away from them as possible. It’s time to stop that bad inner dialogue. You are enough right now, just as you are, and the world needs your light. In order to understand our self-worth, we need to eliminate negative thoughts not only toward ourselves, but in every aspect of our lives. Change comes from within.
Now, one thing that we can do to try and stay away from those negative thoughts is to change them. I get it. Change can be really difficult! But learning how to have a positive attitude is going to take time and it won’t happen overnight. I implemented a simple change into my life (thanks to my brother’s advice) and I have encouraged people around me to do the same. I am here to share with you, THIS ONE LITTLE CHANGE WORKS! So, here is my secret that changed everything! I decided that I wasn’t going to have a single negative thought for an entire day. After I had agreed to this one change, literally seconds after, I was driving and someone cut me off and I had to slam on my breaks to not hit them. You know what came out of my mouth? We won’t get into it but yeah... it was not very nice. Immediately I understood just how easily I allowed negativity into my life without even realizing it! So, I started again and kept trying. It took a few weeks of consistently trying but eventually, I started to feel a shift in my thoughts. I started to focus on the positivity around me and the beauty in the world and myself.
This one little change is going to transform your life. So, here is my challenge go you. Try not to have one negative thought for just one day. Catch yourself every time you have a negative thought and as soon as you do, correct that thought. But first, acknowledge that it is there. One way to do this is to replace that negativity with a positive thought and get that negativity out of your head. Keep trying and be persistent. Watch how quickly your mind and your thought process actually changes. Psychologists argue that it is impossible to go an entire day without a negative thought. But the point here is not perfection, it is a process of becoming a better version of yourself. The way you think, the way you see life, the way you see yourself, the way you see others, the way you see the world around you, it will all start to shift. I promise you it will change your life but it can only happen if you choose to make this shift in your thought process and if you will make the effort to understand when negative thoughts creep into your mind. You’ll be shocked once you start to recognize just how often negativity seeps in without even realizing it. Once you recognize those negative thoughts you will be able to change that energy into something positive. You will learn how to re-program your thought process into something positive and learn to take negative situations and put a positive spin on it. Your outlook on yourself, your life, situations that you are in, the people around you, it will all change for the better. Everything will change! As long as you make the decision yourself to change the way you think, recognize and reject those negative thoughts, and shift your energy and thought process to positivity, it’s going to change everything.
We all have the ability to change and I believe that with effort, patience, and persistence anyone can change. Be kind and be positive! You are incredible. You are infinite. You are powerful. You are a force to be reckoned with. I am here to help you learn this and once you do, you are going to be unstoppable and you are going to change the world.
